Meet The Team

As an associate professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of Bologna, Cristian Torri is the inventor of the patent on which RAPCO2 is based. As a scientific entrepreneur, he actively pursued solutions to issues such as climate change, waste, thermochemical transformations, plastics, and more, using a new lean and vertical research method. This innovative approach, which blends analytical understanding with design and learning-by-doing, breaks down barriers between disciplines and has become the hallmark of RAPCO2.

Andrea Facchin, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bologna, is a co-author of the patent on which RAPCO2 is based. He earned his PhD in 2025 in "The Future of the Earth, Climate Change, and Societal Challenges." He conducts research to understand and solve environmental problems across various fields, developing unique skills in prototyping and automating new processes and analytical instruments. Whether at the lab bench or on the workshop floor, he is at home in the world between circuit board pins and lines of software. As CTO of RAPCO2, he is the driving force behind the development of RAPCO2's commercial products.
